Cream chargers and whipped cream dispensers are a little daunting when you first invest in them. Once you understand them a little more, you'll really be able to appreciate how important they are, and the role that they play in every single recipe. We've put together this simple guide for you to get started using nitrous oxide cream chargers, so you can make the most out of them.
What we hope you'll achieve from this guide:
The science behind Cream Chargers is actually quite simple - it's essentially just injecting gas to liquid to whip cream. When you think about it, it's really no different to soda syphon.
The one big difference, of course, is that cream chargers are a canister of nitrous oxide (N2O), which makes them super unique in the culinary practice.
So, why do we use N2O instead of CO2? Well, you don't want your cream to be fizzy. That's the exact reason why carbonated drinks are fizzy - it just has a different effect.
Another reason is that CO2 is acidic but N2O is neutral. You don't want your cream to have an acidic taste - that's actually a sign of something not so great. With N2O, no flavour is adjusted, which is perfect for the types of recipes that you will want to achieve.
How to use a Cream Charger and Whipped Cream Dispenser
It's super simple to use a cream charger, you just need to place whatever you want to foam into the bottle of the dispenser. This is all explanatory when you have the charger and dispenser in front of you.
Each recipe is different - sometimes the contents have to be warm and sometimes they have to be cold.
When you pull the trigger, the contents that you put in the whipped cream dispenser will be pushed out. Once you get the hang of it, it's really easy to understand.
Fun fact: your whipped cream can last for up to 10 days in the cream charger dispenser, granted you have to refrigerate it. That's perfect for those ongoing recipes, or when you want to create tonnes of different types of recipes.
Again, this is really easy to do - whipped cream dispensers and chargers are known for being low-maintenance and easy to use. That's what makes them so popular.
Begin by separating all the parts, mainly the head from the holder. Just clean every individual part with warm water and soap. Check the care labels to see if your cream charger is dishwasher safe. We would always recommend that you wash the head by hand, using a cloth - this will prevent any kind of damage.
Now that you have your simple guide, what will you be using your whipped cream dispensers for? Overall, they are a cost-effective, handy, necessity for all times of bakers and chefs.
